South Korea’s impeached president freed from detention

South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol, who lawmakers voted to impeach over his declaration of martial law, has been freed from detention after prosecutors decided not to appeal a court decision canceling his arrest. Yoon remains suspended from his duties and still faces ongoing criminal and impeachment trials. He was seen bowing to cheering supporters, who were waving Korean and US flags, as he walked out of the detention center in Uiwang.
