New L.A. DA Nathan Hochman says the Menendez brothers need to come clean and show remorse if they want a chance to possibly get out of prison. On Monday, Hochman withdrew the DA’s office request for a reduced sentence. According to Hochman, Lyle and Erik have “failed to exhibit full insight into the breadth of their criminal actions.” He says they need to “unequivocally and sincerely admit for the first time in 30 years that they have been lying this entire time,” and that then the court should consider those new insights. Lyle and Erik’s family issued a statement in response accusing the DA of “holding Erik, Lyle, and our family hostage,” and claiming he has “blinders on to the fact that they were repeatedly abused, feared for their lives, and have atoned for their actions.”
