In the post’s caption, he detailed the incident, stating, "We were on our way back to L.A. from the Philippines when the entire cabin filled with smoke (due to an electrical fire). Expressing gratitude for their safety, Koy urged followers to tell loved ones they care. The flight, originally headed to Los Angeles, was diverted to Tokyo, where Koy and his group had to wait nine hours before boarding another flight home. Fellow passenger Valerie Del Castillo recalled waking up to the scent of "burning plastic" and noted that smoke soon filled the cabin, prompting crew members to distribute wet face towels. Another passenger, Jennifer Taylor, mentioned that some struggled with eye irritation and throat discomfort caused by the smoke. Despite the alarming situation, all 350+ passengers and crew aboard were reported safe after the emergency landing.
