RFK Jr. says autism is a preventable epidemic. Critics call that framing harmful and wrong. Few have lived the consequences of that rhetoric like Russell Lehmann. Once a fifth-grade dropout, Lehmann was nonverbal and diagnosed with autism at age 12, and even institutionalized. Now, he is a guest lecturer at UCLA and a national disability advocate and autism influencer. His life challenges the idea that autism is something to be fixed or feared.
