Tina Knowles Reveals Breast Cancer Battle, Talks Raising Beyoncé and Solange & Being a Grandma

Motherhood, Tina explains, completely transformed her. She became “ultra-responsible,” devoted to raising children who would grow into strong, creative individuals. She speaks about Beyoncé and Solange’s distinct personalities, her close bond with Kelly Rowland — whom she also helped raise — and how proud she is of all of them as mothers. “I love being a grandma,” she says. “I am blessed to have kids that are great mothers.” Reflecting on her own mother’s legacy, Tina says, “All the best parts of me came from her,” and adds, “I’m living off of my momma’s prayers.”

Tina also touches on the impact of fame and the emotional weight of enduring public scrutiny and false rumors. “To hear people say the most horrendous things and to call my whole family a lie… It was one of the worst times in my life,” she shares, adding that Beyoncé asked her not to respond publicly in order to avoid giving the rumors more attention.
