Miley Cyrus was born in the home of country, Nashville, Tennessee, to father and country-idol Billy Ray Cyrus on November 23, 1992. She began her acting career early, playing minor parts in television and film, and her biography includes numerous awards, on-screen cameos and chart-topping hits. Miley’s big break came when she was cast as the lead character in the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana in 2006. With Miley in the lead, Hannah Montana won four consecutive Emmy Awards. A year later, Cyrus signed with Hollywood Records and released her debut album, Meet Miley Cyrus, which sold over 4 million copies worldwide. Miley followed up on her initial recording success with the album Breakout in 2008 and the EP The Time of Our Lives in 2009. Her 2010 release, the album Can’t Be Tamed, was a commercial flop. After the failure of Can’t Be Tamed, Miley focused on pursuing her acting career, hosting NBC’s Saturday Night Live and making appearances on the MTV show Punk’d, and the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men. Returning to her roots, Miley Cyrus signed a recording contract with RCA Records in late 2012, which released her fourth ablum, Bangerz, in 2013. The single “Wrecking Ball” won Miley worldwide attention, both for its haunting lyrical quality and its sexually explicit music video. “Wrecking Ball” went to number-one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts. Miley Cyrus was named MTV’s “Artist of the Year” in 2013. Miley recently completed her Bangerz tour, performing 80 shows across the world. The music video for her number-one song, “Wrecking Ball,” won video of the year at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
