There are new questions about the mysterious deaths of Gene Hackman and wife Betsy Arakawa that could affect who inherits his $80 million fortune. Authorities have made a change to their timeline about when Betsy died, after previously saying they believed she passed away on February 11, nine days before both bodies were discovered. Today, investigators say they now have phone records showing Betsy made three calls to a private medical clinic on February 12. The timeline is important because since she is believed to have died first, Gene’s will – which reportedly named her as his sole successor and did not name his three children – could be declared invalid. The fortune could go to a charity she designated. TMZ reports Gene’s oldest son has hired a lawyer, which could indicate he’ll challenge the will.
