Caputo criticized Politico for its 2020 headline, "51 intelligence agents, or former intelligence agents, say that the Hunter Biden laptop was disinformation", asserting that this judgment turned out to be disinformation itself, as the contents of the laptop were verified to be authentic. The letter by 51 former intelligence officials discrediting The New York Post’s report as a "Russian information operation" has since been suggested to be orchestrated by the Biden campaign, particularly by Antony Blinken, to sway the election’s outcome.
