Robert De Niro is playing two roles as dueling 1950s mob bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello in “Alto Knights.” He and co-star Debra Messing, who plays Frank’s wife Bobbie, sat down with “Extra’s” Mona Kosar Abdi to dish on the movie, which is based on the true story of the rival bosses’ showdown. De Niro spoke about how he felt the two roles justified doing another gangster movie after “The Irishman.” Debra talked about her character being the only mob boss’ wife who was Jewish and how they had a very progressive marriage as true partners. De Niro’s actual dogs were in the movie as Frank and Bonnie’s pups, and he shared how that happened, joking he gave them a pep talk to behave. Plus, he talked about daughter Gia, whom he shares with GF Tiffany Chen, getting ready to turn one and how he watches a lot of “The Wiggles”! “Alto Knights” is out March 21.
