It was the diagnosis that shocked Rosie O’Donnell and changed her as a parent – the youngest of her five children Clay, the joy of her life, was autistic. But then, a decade later came Kuma, the four-legged gift the O’Donnell family never dreamed would change everything. Now, Rosie has taken what was once a very personal and private journey and executive produced the new documentary “Unleashing Hope: The Power of Service Dogs for Children with Autism.” She talks to “Extra’s” Mona Kosar Abdi about the touching doc, which is streaming on Hulu. The special dogs are trained by inmates across the country, and Rosie shares how it was only because of her friend Lyle Menendez — yes, that Lyle — that Clay met their new best friend. Plus, Rosie talks leaving the U.S. with her family and moving to Ireland before Trump’s second inauguration.
