When Elizabeth Banks first read the script for “Call Jane,” a period drama about the underground Jane Collective that provided safe abortions for women in the years preceding Roe. v. Wade, all she knew about the group was that it existed. But when she dug into the history of the Collective, she became convinced that it was important for people to learn about the work they performed.
