‘You Won’t Be Alone’ Director Goran Stolevski on Macedonian Folk Thriller | Variety Sundance Studio

While he was conceptualizing “You Won’t Be Alone,” writer-director Goran Stolevski wanted to create a brand new folk tale. Drawing from his Macedonian upbringing, Stolevski’s film tells the story of a shape-shifting witch known as the Wolf-Eateress, who terrorizes an 18th century Balkan village, searching for blood. In conversation with chief film critic Peter Debruge for the Variety Virtual Sundance Studio presented by Audible, Stolevski said he was pleased that viewers thought the story he told was an authentic folk tale.
